The main fields of application are robotics, industrial automation, automotive and electrical drives.

With a deep knowledge in control and power electronics  LUXTRON designs and manufactures the main devices (inverters, drives, motion control, sensor interfaces, bus converters, etc ...) of an automatic control system using as tools development and simulation software for the real system implementation and real-time operation verification.

The classic mechatronic control system can be represented by a closed loop, and consists of several main blocks: the plant to be controlled (electric motor), the actuator system (power electronics), the plant controller, designed and implemented in CPU (DSP - Digital Signal Processor), then the sensor, which measures a state of the system (speed of rotation).

The traditional development methodology for these devices is divided into a set of phases addressed sequentially: mechanical design, choice of actuators and control electronics, and finally production of a physical prototype, on which are performed tests necessary for the optimization of the machine.

It is this last phase, often long and costly, which will show the possible suboptimal decisions made in the individual project phases. In a mechatronic approach, conversely, the mechanical aspects, electrical and control are addressed simultaneously, focusing on design solutions that optimize figures of merit, more or less formally expressed, designed to improve overall performance.



Controllers for special machines

Custom designs for low cost applications represent the most difficult challenge as the volumes do not always justify this kind of approach. However a careful study of the specific system often leads to re-evaluate the option of electronics designed and built ad-hoc, as it saves on other system components that can be integrated in the same, without substantially increasing costs.
